How to handle code in files?

I often get file, usually microsoft excel, that contain code. Once or twice I see them in word files too.

I would very much like to have a good explanation of how to work with files like those.

  • good one. I also have this question but for xmls. especially when the code is things like {name} or {number} and also html code. how do I work that? sometimes i have this in bilingual files like xlif as well. i don't think this can be handled but if there is a way i would be heppy.
