Add a button to attach a file to a post

There is no function available for attaching a file to a post, an essentially required basic function.

A workaround is to use the "Insert/Edit media" button for this, but this is (1) absolutely counter-intuitive and (2) tricky because it inserts a huge folder image into the post.

Please have a look at this post to get more insight into what I mean (and also into the fact that many people struggle with this issue).

  • Hey Walter,

The vendor - in its wisdom - has removed this functionality in favor of the Tiny MCE editor version. I will do 3 things

    1. I will make a recording on how to deal with attachments in the current platform
    2. I will ask if the code that has been stripped is still available from the vendor
    3. I will add this as a requirement to our development.

So, here is also an honest answer.

Right now the community is run by me and 1 developer who has just north of 250 tickets/requests to solve in 2015. We also draw the line if we have to customize the core as this is unmaintainable. So, if we have to  customize the core, we do not do it. I do take you serious but want to point that we have to balance a lot of stakeholder's interests and that comes with choices. This one is def a good idea. No debate about it. We'll see how we can solve this.
