How can I change my display Name?
- Log into the SDL Community
- Click on your profile picture in the right upper corner
- In the drop down menu, click on Profile
- Then click on Edit Profile
- Here you can edit your name, company name, biography, etc.
How can I change my email address?
- Log into SDL Community
- Click on your profile picture in the right upper corner
- Click on Settings
- Here you can change your email address
How can I update my profile information?
- Log into the SDL Community

- In the drop down menu, click on Profile

How can I update my privacy options?

How do I select an avatar or change my photo?
- Log into the SDL Community
- Click on your profile picture in the right upper corner
- In the drop down menu, click on Profile
- Then click on Edit Profile
- On the left upper corner you see the default avatar
- Click on the avatar
- You can now update your profile picture
How do I receive notifications when someone replies to a thread?
If you have created the thread, you automatically get notifications of someone replies to your post. Beyond that, you can Follow a thread to receive an email notification when a reply to the thread is made. You can also “Follow” a space and sub-space. Additional options are available for customization of email notifications under your Settings.
What is the easiest way to see my spaces or groups?
In the Top navigation right next to "Home" there's a link to "My Groups".
How do I start a question/discussion (thread)?
To start a discussion:
- If you are already in a group, space, or project, go into the forum application of the group.
- Start typing in the "Ask a Question" field or start a question by clicking on the "+ New" button in the right upper corner of the page.
- Your discussion is defaulted to be marked as a question to encourage people to answer for points. If your goal is to start a discussion click on discussion instead of question.
- Write your discussion in the content field. You can format your text however you’d like, insert videos, images, hyperlinks, emoticons, or tables.
- Add relevant tags to the Tags field so your question or discussion is easily searchable.
- Click the Post Message button to post your question/discussion.
- When someone responds to your discussion with an answer you deem correct or helpful, click the Verify as answer button to award points for their response, also you will receive 3 points for verifying the answer.
I posted a message earlier, but now it is gone. What happened?
Two things could have happened. The message was deleted, or the message was moved to another community because the moderator determined that it was better suited for another community. If the question was moved, you will be notified with a link attached directing to the page where the thread was moved to.
Can I subscribe to a forum?
Yes. You can subscribe to a forum or wiki. In the forum, wiki blog go to the bottom of the page and click on More. The click turn notifications On/Off. Another way is to go into a forum and in the list of forums, click underneath Subscribed on Off/On.
Can I subscribe to content via email?
Yes, in your account settings, you can see all the groups you've joined and there you can turn email digests on/off.
How do I reply to a message?
Every message has a Reply icon at the bottom of the message. Click the icon and fill the form to reply to the message. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to log in. When you are finished, click Post.
How can I mark answers as Correct?
This only works if you have flagged your thread as a question. If the answer was correct, click on "Verify as correct". The answer will now appear with a green line above it.
Can I attach files to my messages?
Yes in the text editor click on: Insert > Insert Image/Video/File
Why do I get so many emails?
To change this, you can edit your email preferences. Click on the drop down menu underneath to your profile picture in the top right corner. Then select settings and adjust your email settings from there.
How do I open a link in new tab or new window?
Right click on the link and choose Open in New Tab or Open in New Window.
How do I “friend” a user?
You can send a friend request to any user in the SDL Community. To do this, you visit the user’s profile, and then click the +Connect button. (You can also see this button if you hover over a user’s name).
Can I send a direct message to someone?
Yes, you can send private messages to the community members.
