Accepted, Not Yet Planned

Hi Russell,

This is interesting. I'll discuss it with our research team during our next Program Increment planning and will update this post once I have more visiblity regarding technical feasibility and a potential delivery date.

Thank you!

Add Pinyin to Language Weaver

Internally, some people use Google Translate as it provides Pinyin when translating Chinese. We'd like this added to Language Weaver.

  • please add Kurdish Sorani (central) to Langauge Weaver, now you only have Kurdish Kurmanji (northern while both are available on Google Translate, Microsoft Office and Meta

  • Additional context for this need from a team member:
English to Chinese language translator does not have Pin Yin (English romanization) , just characters. Same going the other way. Google translate tells you not just the character, but also how to say it. Alternatively, if someone is telling me a word in Chinese I can't input the word if I don't also know the character... So if a customer tells me a word verbally ("qi" with a 3rd tone) I can't translate it because for the current translator I would need to know the exact character (qi has about 100 different characters and meanings). If I just type in Qi to the Chinese side, it simply spits out the English translation as also Qi...not very helpful. Alternatively, If I take an English word, and I want to translate it to Chinese so I can say it to a customer, since your function only gives the characters, if I have never seen that character before I won't know how to say it. Also useless 七 - this Qi means the number 7 气 - This Qi means like air 器 - This Qi means instrument (as in Texas instruments) 矗 - This character is new to me. So It could be Qi, or something else. But I wouldn't know how to say it because your translator doesn't have Pin Yin. SO it is almost useless.

  • Any updates on when this will be planned?
