Add ability for pretranslation to carry segment status from the TM

Currently, TE does not carry the current status of a segment in a TM to a project. If there is a TM match it is only marked as translated, even if the status in the TM is translation approved or signed off. This creates a situation where it is unclear what segments were previously approved or signed off in the past and is creating extra work and increased costs for linguists in a review step.

  • It would also be helpful for our team if we could even Lock or Filter segments based on status... like lock all "Translation Approved" or "Signed Off" segments for example.

  • This would be useful for our team as well.

For our team, using locks is not indicative of the quality level of the match because it is essentially only saying, "Yes, we have translated this before." Our users want to know exactly if it was Translated, Translation Approved by an editor, or Signed Off by a customer or geo-level reviewer. As Russell mentioned, it seems peculiar that there is a specific effort to control what statuses can be saved into the TM, have those statuses preserved in the translation units, but not use that information when applying TM leverage.

Definitely a feature I would like to see implemented. It seems like the information is already being captured, so hopefully it's not difficult to implement a way to actually leverage the statuses.

  • Locked segments are not used in update TM, so they do not end in TM.

  • Due to some segmentation issues that occur, we do not want to lock CM and 100% as the segmentation may be inaccurate. It is odd that the TM would maintain these statuses, but not leverage them in a project. Additionally, if you lock a CM or 100% match, it is then marked as "translated" in the new project. What happens with the TM update? Does it now change that segment to just "translated" in the TM?

  • Also PerfectMatch is now available if previous bilingual files are similar and there are only small updates.
