Add DeepL translation provider to Studio

Title says it all - it works so good for Polish, that we need it in Studio ASAP. But not as external plugin. :)

  • Just an update to the service we have available via the AppStore plugin.  I spoke with their CTO this afternoon and he advised that at the moment they are still not able to sell accounts in a more automated way and are still working through legislation for this. So for now they’re signing with individual clients with a large monthly consumption of around 100 million chars per month.  For all others, they expect to have a solution soon.  I don't have timescales for this but we will update the community when we know more, and if you don't all find out before we do.

  • I, too, can confirm that the translation results from DeepL in my language pair Eng-Ger are absolutely amazing.

At the moment, I am happy to pay to have Google Translate incorporated in my SDL Trados projects, as I must say I profit from the sheer amount of vocabulary alone. It is so much easier than having to start from scratch. After they changed the algorithm in 2016, the quality of Google Translate improved a lot, but it is now clearly surpassed by DeepL. I just love using it.

I wouldn't expect the DeepL-Plugin to work for free, either. But if you could make it happen in the near future, I am hereby letting you know that the demand is there. We translators are eager to see this happen.

  • The translation results with DeepL were remarkable. We are looking forward to a plug-in with impatience!

  • I've tested it with French-German - some sentences look great, others are simply funny. Anyway, it seems to be a promising tool to work with for some sorts of texts, and I hope that it will get even better by regular "training".

  • Tested that with GE-PL too, it is astonishing, how good some translations were. It would indeed be more than good to have it - it outboxes Google & Co. really.
