OpenAI Provider for Trados Studio: option to include term information in system prompt

Termbases typically contain not only terms but also additional relevant information, such as domain, status, and usage comments. However, when using the terminology-aware suggestion options, only the term information is currently considered. This means that if your termbase contains forbidden terms, you must delete them manually. I would therefore welcome an option to exclude terms with the status “forbidden”—either by preventing those target terms from being collected during prompt creation, or by including the status information in the prompt so that explicit instructions (e.g., “do not use terms flagged as forbidden”) can be added. In addition, it would be helpful to allow other information, such as domain or usage comments, to be incorporated into the prompt.

    thank you for your feedback. Yes, that's an interesting approach and would be a good temporary solution. Not easy to implement at large scale in production as you would have to duplicate termbases and maintain them.

    "Temporary" as this missing feature will be probably integrated in future releases (spoiler!).

    I had the same problem, so I did some testing with a couple of simple sentences.

    First, I tested a termbase with a forbidden target term marked as '[FORBIDDEN]' within the target term field, like so:

    I then used the following prompt in AI Assistant: 

    Update this 'Translation' from {sourceLanguage} to {targetLanguage}, using technical terminology. - Do **not** use 'Terms' containing '[FORBIDDEN]'.

    And I got the correct output (the Italian "turista" was set as forbidden and, therefore, was substituted by another term: "visitatori"):

    Afterwards, I added a second target term as the correct term to be used:

    And I got the correct output (the Italian "turista" was substituted by the correct term "persone in viaggio"):

    Of course, this means that the termbase has to be edited before it can be used in Trados Studio to match this workflow.

    I agree that an option like “do not use terms flagged as forbidden” would make life easier :-)
