Detailed cross-file analysis (optional step during project preparation)

The typical scenario for starting a large translation project with hundreds of files requires running an analysis against any TM to check the cross-file repetitions etc. This helps, but it's not perfect with regard to large number of files. What would be great is to have one (optional) additional step in the project creation stage, where Studio would analyse all source documents to create a sophisticated report clearly showing which documents are similar to each other, show suggestions for grouping files for packaging etc. As far as I know no such tool exists on the market, and all this is basically done by project managers based on their experience and intuition. And yes, I am aware that in many cases this will not be suitable due to linguistic aspects, but still I believe this would be a great addition.

  • The thing is some projects include thousands of files, and it's simply impossible to look into each one of them. That's where the PM's experience won't help. I agree this would take a lot of processing power, but leaving your machine for an extra hour or two with huge project is not an issue, if it helps to optimize the work. Of course this would be an optional step, but definitely something worth having in a modern tool. Plus - nobody on the market is doing it YET :)
