Let the user decide where the Studio 2022 folder is created when installing Studio

It would be great if it was possible for the user to decide where the Studio 2022 folder should be created on the computer when installing Trados Studio. Right now, it is automatically created in the default Documents folder. For some translators working for agencies or institutions, OneDrive has been imposed on them as the default location and they can´t change or modify any of its settings since they need admin rights. That means that the Studio 2022 folder is created in OneDrive and continuously syncs with the cloud. RWS does not recommend working in a drive where files are continuously syncing. Therefore, translators have to find imperfect and sometimes difficult-to-implement solutions to circumvent this problem. Moreover, even if we move certain Studio files and folders out of OneDrive, they will still be recreated. This could be easily solved if, when installing Studio, the user had the option of selecting the folder where they want the Studio 2022 to be created (for example: C/User name/Documents) instead of it being automatically created in the default Documents folder.

  • Very important to fix this.

OneDrive/Documents: This folder is part of Microsoft's OneDrive, a cloud storage service that is integrated into Windows.  When you save files to the OneDrive/Documents folder, they are automatically uploaded to your OneDrive cloud storage.

Documents (Local Documents Folder): This is the traditional Documents folder that exists on your local machine's hard drive. Files saved here are only stored on your computer, and not automatically backed up to the cloud.

Trados Studio cannot effectively work in OneDrive as the default always synchs to the cloud and removes local files after a while.  This causes errors as Studio cannot find the files.  You can set up Onedrive to always be local too, but this sort of defeats the purpose if it as it would then just become a backup drive replicating everything.  So better to allow the user to decide as per this idea.
