Idea Delivered

This is already available as per comments and also the related idea here - https://community.rws.com/ideas/trados-portfolio-ideas/i/trados-studio/add-hyperlink-tags-to-target-which-don-t-exist-in-source. However, indeed adding new hyperlinks that don't exist in the source is not possible. It would also be interesting to know in which cases this may be needed - i.e. where a source document does not have a hyperlink and you need to add a new one?

Make hyperlink tag text editable in target segment

The text of the link tag should be editable so that the address in target segment could differ from the address in the source segment (e.g. source refers to English website while translation should have a link to the translated page).

Also, we should be able to add a new hyperlink tag to the target segment, which doesn't exist in source (e.g. an additional website required by the target language country authorities).

  • I believe your first suggestion is already supported by Studio. If you go to Project Settings>File Types>Microsoft Word>Common, you'll find a box called "Extract Hyperlinks". This will allow you to insert the URL relevant to your target language in an ADR segment that will appear automatically in the Editor (ADR stands for Address I suppose). Tags don't need to be changed.

However, an "add new hyperlink" option would indeed be nice... Not sure it can be added after the conversion to XLIFF though.
