1. As a subscription user of Trados Studio, we are pleased to have access to the free translation feature for 500,000 words of "Cloud-based resources" machine translation each month. "Cloud-based resources" does a good job of preserving various formats and tags from the original text, and it is directly integrated into the Trados Studio client with a stable connection. However, the translation quality of "Cloud-based resources" has consistently been poor—very bad, in fact. Over the past few years, I have intermittently tested the translation quality between Chinese and English using "Cloud-based resources." The translation quality is so low that it is nearly unuseful, with even basic elements like names and numbers often being translated incorrectly. Among the various machine translation options I currently use, "Cloud-based resources" has the worst translation quality. RWS is a globally recognized translation company, and I hope to arrange for some professional translators and quality corpora to properly train the "Cloud-based resources" machine translation. Alternatively, it would be beneficial for "Cloud-based resources" to improve its machine translation quality or solve the problem by learning from ChatGPT's translation quality.
2. Additionally, I hope that the locally downloaded Trados Studio software on the computer can also enable the terminology intervention pre-translation feature for "Cloud-based resources." During pre-translation, it should be able to directly replace and accurately translate all terms in the target language using the loaded termbase. While it seems that this feature might exist in the cloud version of Trados Studio, the locally downloaded trados studio on the computer is the most widely used CAT tool, offering faster speeds, better stability, and greater security, unaffected by network issues. Therefore, I hope that the locally downloaded trados studio on the computer always has the latest and most comprehensive features.
