Show character count for selected text (also across segments)

Until now Studio is showing character count only for active target segment (after last update without spaces, but this is different topic). It would be nice to also display character count for selected text only (+ enable this even across segments).

Displaying the source character count would be great too for comparison purposes (without having to use the AHK script).

I would love to have a function that displays the number of characters in the target text, not only in source. Maybe such request could be integrated in any "show number of characters" feature.

I have developed a PlugIn for my own use that can deal with this problem.
It's not signed by SDL as I don't wish to put my plugins on the SDL's AppStore,
and I only have this for SDL Trados Studio version 2017,
but I can make it available to you if you like.
