smart quotes/straight quotes/duck-foot quote in Trados 2021 FR

There is since long an interesting check box in Trados FR, automatically correcting straight quotes " into « and ». I know that this check box in Trados EN changes those straight quotes into smart quotes (“ ”) but this function is not present in Trados FR, what is sometimes a problem.

Would it be possible to add this function this way:

Replace straight quotes by duck-foot quotes
Replace straight quotes by smart quotes

You're right Paul. The trick is to not depend of the language of the software. In FR, you have only the option from straight to duck-foot, and in EN only froim straight to smart. If this idea is applied (fortunately), then you may pass from straight/smart to duck-foot even in EN soft.

Sibylle Walker I think that's the point of this idea. Arnaud wants to be able to convert straight quotes to English smart quotes in a French language. Perhaps a quirk of a customers requirement... I have no idea... but I think this is the point here.

Hello Arnaud, the formatting of the quotes depends on the language of the text you're writing. If the text is former tes as English, you'll get English smart quotes. If it is formatted as French, you'll get French quotes. If German, then you'll get German quotes etc.
