The AI professional plugin for Trados 2022 has bugs or problems.
In the desktop software version of Trados 2022, after entering the OpenAI API account name and key, the connection is shown as successful, and the "Pre-translate file with AI professional" indicates that pre-translation is complete. However, the translated segments on the right side are all blank, with no translations appearing. Yet, the charges are already reflected on OpenAI's official website. The same OpenAI API account name and key currently do not have this issue with the OpenAI provider for Trados Studio 2024, and translations work normally at present.
Given the high cost of OpenAI's API, if we perform pre-translation on larger files and Trados Studio fails to display the translations while the charges have already been incurred, it can lead to significant financial losses for translation users.
We hope the development team for Trados Studio (desktop software) will conduct thorough and rigorous reviews and testing for trados studio and all related plugins. This should include simulated testing across various file formats and usage scenarios to ensure stable performance before offering them to paid users. Just like consumers purchasing cars or airplanes, users buy these tools to use them smoothly and fulfill their needs. However, it is not a good idea for various issues to frequently occur on highways or in the air, as this is extremely dangerous. In the actual translation field, many project completion timelines are strictly controlled, and translation work cannot be affected by recurring issues with CAT tools during the work process.
