You can see the Publish and Release Report in Publication Manager and an option to save the DITA Open Toolkit log.

Make publishing event logs available directly from Publication Manager

Proposed changes for Publication Manager > Output Tab:

Right now, when a publication failure occurs, a writer must open the web client to access the publishing event log, which takes a lot of work. To view the event log, the writer must:

  • Log into web client.
  • Open the failed output in the Repository tab.
  • Clicks Status Report.
  • Clicks the event log link.
  • Clicks Show Verbose
  • Scrolls to and clicks the shell command output).

This workflow can be greatly simplified by just adding an option to “View Event Log” when a writer right-clicks a failed output in the Output tab of Publication Manager. Users have a hard time troubleshooting their own publications because the event logs are so inaccessible. Allowing them to access the event logs directly from pub manager will go a long way to resolving this problem.
