Improve list customizability in the Content Manager Explorer: Status History

Below is the history of changes to this idea's status. Return to the idea.

  • Idea Delivered

In Tridion Sites 10 it is possible to configure your lists and add custom filter and sorting. Every user can configure their own required setup.

In addition it is possible to add custom columns using UI Extensions.

  • Under Community Review

I'm removing "enhanced filtering and sorting" and "should be able to filter out expired content" from the idea title and putting it in the description.

    • I see filtering and sorting as a desire for customized columns.
    • And expired content could be an implementation choice, perhaps based on Workflow Status or Metadata, since SDL Tridion Sites doesn't have an explicit "expired" status out-of-the-box.

I'm leaving this under community review. I'd like more concrete examples of what you're looking to add in the columns and at what level.

    Here's some of our thinking:

    • Organizations desire customized columns that load reasonably fast for an entire system based on their primary use cases (some might want more workflow statuses while others want to track translation)
    • Perhaps it makes sense to make customized columns granular to the type of Organizational Item or maybe its default Schema (e.g. show image-related columns if the default Schema is for images)
    • Even more granular (and expensive) would be per-user, per-folder custom columns

From what we've heard so far...

    • I suspect no one wants the "type" column.
    • There's interest in sorting by alphanumeric options
    • Customers have extended columns, but struggle with performance on slow integrations or large data sets
    • There's interest in seeing item fields in columns
    • Some of the newer dashboard lists lost some column sorting/filtering desired from the CME lists
    • Example extensions include file path for images or icons for Schemas
