View CGMs in IETMs without requiring a plug-in!

This release introduces CGM viewing in LiveContent S1000D IETMs/IETPs without requiring any associated plugins providing you with greater flexibility, additional security and cost savings.

Security is a huge challenge facing all of us today. Historically, our Aerospace & Defense customers have invested a lot of time and money in creating CGM graphics that are used throughout the majority of their technical publications. 

Up until recently, CGM plug-ins like ISOview, have been required to view these graphics in IETMs. However, with increased pressure to eliminate security risks and implement cost controls, these “plug-in” implementation options are no longer a viable strategy.

SVG graphics don’t have this constraint, but converting CGMs to SVGs is a project that can be time consuming and expensive. Some organizations can’t even use SVGs until the S1000D spec includes them as a supported file format.

We’ve been helping to address these challenges by supporting SVGs for several releases now, and today we are thrilled to announce we are supporting CGMs in LiveContent S1000D 5.10 IETMs without requiring a plug-in.

This release is compatible with the recently released Contenta S1000D v5.10.

• New S1000D Issue 5.0 feature support:
  • Support for infoNameVariant in Data Module titles
  • Support for controlAuthorityGroup in DMs, DMLs, DDNs, PMs and SCPMs
  • Support for 3-5 digit Issue numbers
• Enhanced Common Information Repository (CIR) support for editorial users
  • Full CIR support within editor tools
  • Ability to search, find and insert CIR references quickly and easily from within the editor tools
• New CGM Hot Spot support has been added to our recently released S1000D XML Editor

Any maintenance customer currently using version 5.# of these applications is entitled to this v5.10 version release and we encourage you to upgrade to the latest version at your earliest convenience.  To initiate the delivery of this version release, please open a support ticket through the RWS Customer Support Web Portal.
