Key themes for this version release are: IT-Friendly, Increased Productivity, and enhanced support for the S1000D Specification. The Release Notes for these products contain information on all of the new features and feature enhancements in this new version release.
Here are some highlights from each of the products:

• Contenta Servers are all 64-bit
• New Contenta S1000D Upload Content with a new and improved user interface; both interactive and batch capabilities and performance enhancements
• Enhancements for S1000D Tech Writers and Editors that improve their productivity and the quality of the content by automating these activities:
  • New S1000D Manage Internal References
  • New S1000D Manage Hot Spots
• S1000D Issue 1.x and 2.x support added allowing the EMEA market, and others who adopted S1000D early on, to manage their existing content and deliverables in the same CSDB as current spec versions
• SDL LiveContent S1000D IETM/IETP UX and Configuration highlights include:
  • Reorganized Navigation per user feedback
  • Continued move from customization to configuration with language resource files, CSS and XSL
  • Enhanced SVG support for Hotspots including new graphic controls for redlining graphics and redlining comments in graphics
  • Enhanced Multimedia support with HTML Locator Graphics, SAP VEV v9 support

Any maintenance customer currently using version 5.# of these applications is entitled to this v5.8 version release and we encourage you to upgrade to this latest version release at your earliest convenience. To initiate the ordering and delivery of this version release, please open a support ticket through the SDL Customer Support Web Portal.

Effective with this release, the current release status is:

• Active - SDL Contenta, SDL Contenta S1000D, SDL LiveContent S1000D v5.8
• Mature - SDL Contenta, SDL Contenta S1000D, SDL LiveContent S1000D v5.7
• Retired - SDL Contenta, SDL Contenta S1000D, SDL LiveContent S1000D v5.6 and previous

Customers running on retired releases should consider upgrading soon as although we may still be able to provide technical support, we are not able to provide Hot Fixes for a retired version release.
