Delivered Saxon XSLT

Question

Can anyone tell me what the latest version of Saxon XSLT engine is delivered with XPP? I'm thinking saxon9pe.jar 9.2.1.2J?? 
 Also, can this be upgraded to the latest from Saxonica - 9.5? If so, does it use the existing license or must a new license be purchased from Saxonica directly?

the current version in XPP V9.1 is indeedSaxon-PE 9.2.1.2J. 
This has been the delivered version from the start since XPP came with a V2 XSLT engine. 
 
It is a licensed product that you can not run outside the XPP environment. 
So I have my doubts if you can upgrade just like that the Saxon engine... 
I think engineering has the final answer on that one.

 This is really a question that you should be asking through official channels, i.e. SDL support. 
 But off hand I'd guess that the answer is no, you will not be able to just "point" XPP to use a different version of Saxon XSLT. 
 You would have to manage using a different version of Saxon XSLT "outside" of XPP. 
 By starting a discussion of this topic with support, you can start making a case for a new version to be incorporated into XPP.
