Using ogonek as an accent

Question

We're still working on the ogonek as a character accent, which was discussed in https://community.sdl.com/solutions/content-management/sdl_contenta_publishing_suite/xyuser-group/f/207/t/6642#pi239031345filter=all&pi239031345scroll=false . 
 If you look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogonek, you will see that the ogonek is either centered or towards the right, depending on the character. And sometimes y, where it goes to the left, but we haven't had a request for a language that uses the y yet. 
 Accents automatically center. Is there a way to set it so the ogonek will center or go on the right depending on the character?

This sort of thing makes me shudder (and how appropriate that it's the Halloween season). I honestly don't know if the pseudofont spec or the ligature/accent replacement spec can do anything for you here. The pseudofont seems closer to what you want to do because it involves specific characters with specific accents. You might want to peruse the chapter in the Fonts manual and see if anything resonates. It's not for the faint of heart, and it does require understanding of the XPP font environment. - Laurie

Fiddling with floating accents is a thing of the past. 
The first thing you should do is forget to use floating accents. 
You need to use the proper unicode at input to address the correct character (eg U+0104 will address the LATIN CAPITAL LETTER A WITH OGONEK) 
 
Then you need to set up your font environment so it can handle these new characters 
 
The modern way forward is to buy one of the more complete unicode fonts that will have all of these combinations ready made. 
The limiting factor here is there is only a limited choice available and your publications will of course just use a certain type that is not available as an extended font. 
 
All the other solutions will cost a lot of time to set up correctly and is left best to an expert in the matter. 
The pseudo font solution that Laurie suggested might be one of those possibility. 
But please do not venture into this without a complete understanding of the XPP font world.
