Trados Business Manager – End of Life Announcement

Trados Business Manager (TBM) has reached end of life. Following the discontinuation of TBM sales on 31 October 2023, all maintenance and support services will conclude on 31 October 2024.
What Does This Mean for TBM Users?

  • End of Services: RWS will no longer provide any services related to the installation or updating of TBM.
  • Existing Installations: TBM will remain functional where already installed, but the RWS support team will not offer assistance in troubleshooting issues, addressing reported problems, or providing further development for TBM.
  • Documentation: The TBM documentation has been removed from docs.rws.com.
  • Community Support: The community forum for TBM will remain accessible in a read-only format for users to reference if needed.

[BaccS Desktop 5] Can't update a backup file

Hello everyone,

I have changed my computer. The old one is no longer available (HD works only as a store disk, cannot run programmes under Windows). 

I have installed the installation file for BaccS Desktop 5 from RWS platform in my new computer. I have asked RWS to restore the license in order to use it in my new computer. Waiting...

I tried to restore the backup file (database) in the new computer, but I get a message from the programme saying that it's not possible to update. See below:

Error message in Trados Studio stating 'Can't update database. Maybe you run older version of the software while your database was updated from another copy of SDL Trados Business Manager, from another machine or from web. Try to run updater? Select No to close the program.' with options 'Si' and 'No'.

I cannot enter the programme neither run the update.

Please advise how to proceed.

    I think I know where the problem is. In my old computer I have Version 5.3.42 and I used this version to create a backup.
    In my new computer I downloaded the file from RWS, version 5.3.5.
    When I restore the backup copy from 5.3.42 in my version 5.3.5, I get the below message and I cannot run the programme anymore.
    Please let me know how to fix this. Maybe there is another way to transfer the data from 5.3.42 to 5.3.5? Or maybe I should install a 5.3.42 version in my new computer?? Can't find the file in RWS.
    I still need to remove the license from the old computer and apply it to my new computer.
