I spoke to Trados support about this and was advised that I could "split" a project but this does not have any bearing on whether multiple linguists can work on a document simultaneously.

In the meantime, I heard it announced on Trados Elevate 2024 yesterday that a feature called "concurrent editing" is being developed, which does exactly what my question is addressing here. They did not state any timeline for that.

I still wonder how folks have been working on projects that require simultaneous work by multiple linguists? I guess those projects need to be done outside of the Trados environment and then uploaded piece by piece into the system (if at all)?

indeed we have Concurrent Editing in the Online Editor on the roadmap for 2024.

You have options of either splitting the files before they come into the system. Alternatively some folks use tools from the Studio appStore to split and merge SDLXLIFF files and distribute them:

Hi Luis, I realized that potentially the best way to do this is to upload the identical file multiple times into Trados, assign it to different translators, assign each translator certain segment numbers, completing the translations, updating the TM, and then reuploading a new identical file and pre-translating using the TM. It's definitely a workaround but I think as effective and efficient of a solution as I've heard.
