Duplicate Studio forum + group is confusing

Since the new group 'Trados Portfolio' has been created, we find the 'Trados Studio' forum in two places:

Screenshot showing Trados Portfolio group with subcategories including Trados Studio, and a separate Trados Studio group for forum discussions.
This is confusing, especially in terms of the email notifications we receive because they have a different subject depending on how the person who wrote the post accessed the forum, see here:

Email notification list with different subject lines for Trados Studio updates and Trados Portfolio activities, highlighting the confusion in forum access.

I suggest this gets streamlined so that there is only one path to this forum.

I think you'll find that Trados Studio is a subgroup of the Trados Portfolio.  If you look in the navigation menu you'll see this:

Screenshot of Trados Portfolio navigation menu with Trados Studio listed as a subgroup. An important message banner at the top indicates ongoing technical issues.

And if you click on the Trados Portfolio you should find it's similarly clear.  How did you get to that screenshot... in your "My Groups"?  Even if you clicked on the Trados Portfolio you will not find a forum for Trados Studio in there.  The description just explains what the Trados Portfolio is.

  • Hi

There are two ways to get there and once it is a sub-group as you say
Screenshot of Trados Portfolio forums page showing categories like General, Licensing and Installation, Product Help Documentation, and Elevate - The Trados online conference series.

and the other time it is suddenly called a 'forum':

Screenshot of Trados Studio group page highlighting forums for General discussion, Trados Studio specific queries, and a section on Trados Enterprise, Trados Team, and cloud capabilities.

The second screenshot I posted earlier is from my Outlook where, as you can see, posts from 'Trados Studio' have a different subject depending on how the person who posted navigated to the forum/sub-group. This is in my eyes confusing and makes it more difficult to filter incoming mails using rules in Outlook.

Groups and Subgroups (which are still Groups) can contain forums, wikis, blogs etc.

So in your second screenshot you have opened the Trados Studio Subgroup and in there it contains forums for:

    1. General
    2. Trados Studio
    3. Cloud capabilities
    4. Multiterm
    5. Machine Translation
    6. Regex and XPath
    7. Autohotkey
    8. Subtitling

So it hasn't suddenly been called a forum, it is a forum whereas it wasn't before and you are looking at two different things.  We organised the Trados Studio Group to contain forums for the things people ask questions about when working with Trados Studio.  Obviously one of the things they will ask about is Trados Studio so we have to have a forum for this, but we separated out things that came up so often when using Trados Studio they deserved their own forum.

I hope that explains it for you?
