SR3 disaster

Thank you SDL! After months of waiting for upgrade that would make Studio Freelance fully usable on Windows 10 / Bootcamp / iMac 5k late 2015 (I think it was in september I contacted you and was promised upgrade) you ruin my Studio. Only thing I get after installing your SR3 upgrade is "There is a problem with the installation. Studio cannot be run. If the problem perstists you will need to re-install Studio."

I have already run the upgrade twice and still nothing. Any advice?

And by the way - am I talking to SDL specialists here or a customer forum???

Same problem here on Windows 7. How can we now deliver our work if we have to wait for a solution? Btw, this is a forum among users as far as I know.

Hi all,

Thank you for reporting the issue, we have now pulled the installer while we understand what is happening and will re-release SR3 soon.

In the meantime, to get you going again, uninstall SR3 and download SR2 from here if you don't have the installer files anymore:
downloadcenter.sdl.com/.../SDLTradosStudio2015_SR2_5082.exe

We apologize for the trouble caused.

Thenk you, this helped I installed now SR2 on my laptop (Windows 7) and it works. I lost a lot of time for searching, testing and I nearly lost a job due to this inconvience.

Hi Michael Patotschka ,

Definitely a bad thing that we have caused you all this trouble. But perhaps a lesson worth noting from this is that it's never a good idea to upgrade your software at a critical time. It can probably wait until the weekend or even a few weeks later, so you do the upgrade at a time when things are perhaps a little less stressful.

I think this would apply to any software. I've succumbed to the temptation of upgrading software when I shouldn't many times and have fallen foul of problems as a result on more than one occasion. Now I bite my fingers, try to put it out of my head and concentrate on the things that must get done first. Then upgrade when I've less at stake.

I know this won't help anyone in this situation right now, but I do think this is an important point to take on board. In fact in today's age where it's so easy to run a VM you could even test it first in a safe environment before moving into production. Maybe something else to think about in the future.

Just ignore that message Rosa. There is no need to deactivate to reinstall on the same machine anyway unless you rebuilt the computer.
