I just "upgraded" to Windows 10 (from XP).

I just "upgraded" to Windows 10 (from XP).

I installed Studio 2014 and Trados 2007 and have a lot of issues, strange Word messages and the such, specially with Multiterm, both versions, which are unusable.

What would be the right sequence for (re-)installation of all of the above, and Office 2007 if required?

Also, where should I put the Multiterm 2007 termbases files? The folder MT uses in XP no longer exists.

    If it was me I'd do this:

    1. Install Trados 2007 (do this first in case it has older assemblies)

    2. Install Office

    3. Install Studio

    4. Install MultiTerm

    Anywhere you like, although I'd be inclined to upgrade them all to the newer version of MultiTerm then do all the work in Studio from now on.

    Anywhere you like, although I'd be inclined to upgrade them all to the newer version of MultiTerm then do all the work in Studio from now on.

    This is something I'm afraid many of us translators simply not pay any attention too: where to put the files! But this is one of the most crucial points when working with a computer, editing software and on top of this with CAT tools. You cannot put the files "somewhere" or "where the software does put them". These locations usually are trouble maker and lead to "where are my files" questions... Not software has to have control over my files, but it is ME who has to control where the files are. Always. With no excuses and no exclusions (at least when it comes to production files). And this is me who has to take care about a backup of those files and so on. Not the computer and not the software.

    Hi ,

    I think the point Jerzy is making is that you can, and should, decide where to put the files. Don't rely on the default locations and always try to be consistent. So if your problem is that projects won't find them because of the path then you'll have to decide where to place them and then confirm the new locations in each of your active projects.

    For example, I mess around with different versions all the time so I keep all my TMs and all my termbases in a central location where they are not affected by upgrades at all. This can be anywhere you like, but I use a folder in my Documents because I only back up the files in my Documents and this is an easy way for me to manage it.
