Use of Studio 2019 on a new pc and keep 2017 on the old one?

Hello, my new pc will arrive in a few days and I have bought the upgrade from Studio freelance 2017 to Studio freelance 2019. Is it easier to wait some days and install 2019 directly on the new one? I have read something link "return the licence to SDL befor using the same license on a new pc"... is this right? So it would be better to make everything on the new one, right? Can I use ma old one as a "back-up-pc" with Studio 2017? And the new one with Studio 2019? Soorry, but downloads, installations, licensing is not my strenght... thank you in advance!

  • Hi

This is what I'd do in your case:

    1. Do NOT deactivate 2017 on your existing computer
    2. Upgrade your 2017 to 2019 in your account.  This will remove your 2017 licence and replace it with the new one but Studio will still be running on your old computer because you did not deactivate it.
    3. Install 2017 and 2019 onto your new computer
    4. Licence 2019
    5. 2017 will use the same licence on your new computer without you having to do anything.  It will just read the 2019 licence automatically

So now you have 2017 and 2019 working on your new computer and you can still use 2017 on the old one for as long as you don't return the licence from the product itself.
