How do I verify that I have access to that directory?

Question

Hello everyone 
 This evening Trados wanted to install an update, so I let it. But halfway through the installation I get stumped with this error message: Very funny, guys. How does one "verify that you have access to that directory"? I mean, yes, I do have access to it, but apparently the installer doesn't. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Hi Samuel Murray 
 
It's the programdata directory so perhaps you don't have sufficient rights for Studio to perform the update? Try running Studio as admin before you allow the update and maybe make sure you are running windows as the user who has admin rights on the machine. 
 
If you can't solve it you should definitely log a case: 
 
 gateway.sdl.com/liveagentlicensing 
 
You have two options: 
 
1. Submit a case using a webform 
2. Use live chat to get a licence reset 
 
You want to use the first option and make sure that you refer to this thread so the teams can see what you have tried already.

1. If Trados doesn't have sufficient privileges to perform the install, perhaps it should check first, before offering to do the install and breaking the user's installation in the process. Perhaps the developers all use the Administrator account all the time and think that we all do. (-: 
2. When Trados automatically downloads the update, it downloads it into some TEMP folder, so re-running the installer later (e.g. as administrator) is only possible for a user who knows how to go hunt for the installer. 
3. After clicking "Cancel", Trados tried to roll back the installation, but ultimately failed. I then tried to download the update from the Trados web site, but the web site only offered the previous version of 2019 as a download option. Fortunately, I managed to figure out where the installer was downloaded to, and a reboot and re-install solved the problem.

The installer always asks for admin permissions as this is needed to do anything in these locations on your machine. Depending on how you are configured you may or may not even notice. 
 
Given you managed to solve this and run the installer again suggests you had some other problem... which we won't know unless we see more of them. Hopefully we won't! 
 
The manual download is here... I have no idea where you looked but there is no manual download of a previous version as this is the first update... maybe you looked in your account but this is a Cumulative Update and not a Service Release:
