I am VERY FRUSTRATED

Is there really NO CUSTOMER SERVICE that could help me set up my trial version of Trados? I have wasted a total of almost 12 hours trying to feed my TM with old files, just to run into error after error. I can't waste time waiting for replies on the forums that take 14 or more hours to come through or waste any more time watching videos or searching through the tutorials. Please help talk to a real person to get this set up so I can honestly try the products before spending the money. I really want to see if this software will help me in my business, but so far I'm not impressed with how overwhelming it is to set it all up! Once I get something figured out, it seems to be a great software, but until then I'm pulling out my hair! I just spend 7 hours on aligning a document previously translated manually, only to have an error come up when its time to save. I can't move or I'll lose all my work!!! Please can I talk/chat with someone in real time?

  • Don't waste your money. There is NO technical service unless you BUY an agreement. I have just upgraded to 2019 and have run into a lot of problems that nothing seems to fix.

  • I apologize. My frustration got the better of me. I still believe that the program should work properly without me having to fix stuff; and if it does not, I should get timely support to fix the problem. The only solution I was offered today was to go back to using 2017. That is good, because I can work and not miss my deadlines, but that does not fix the issue with the 2019 version.

    How do I stop getting the following error in Studio 2019 sr2?

    Parameter is not valid

    The options offered were: 1-reset. Did not do since I did not want to lose everything, and it did not work for everyone. 2-Repairing SDL Studio 2019 in control panel, Programs & Features, which does not exist anymore, only Apps which does not have a Repair function. 3- Renaming the folder. Did that, but that did not fix the problem.

    I just want to get rid of that Parameter is not valid error because every time is comes up, it freezes Studio. You have to close it and start over. Very time consuming. 

  • Tell us more about your computer. Have you installed Studio as admin? Why do you refuse to reset Studio by removing the files as described in article 1414 in the Knowledge Base? This resets only the program, not your files.

    If Studio is not listed under Programs & Features in your control panel, so install it simply again from the installation file, running this one as admin.

  • I have a PC, maybe 18 months old running Windows 10. I have not done the reset because I was under the impression I would loose everything, which I think I will, but it's only one week. Nonetheless, not ideal. And since it did not work for everyone, it seemed like a lot to lose for something that might not work 100%. Also, not sure if SDL will let me do that. I don't want licensing issues. When I switched computers last year, I had to get another license in order to install 2017 on the new computer. 

    Studio 2019 IS listed in my Apps. The solution was to "repair" it (click on the Repair button), but I do not have a repair button/option. Just like I do not have a Programs & Features section. It's only Apps now in Windows 10. Looks like the solution was for earlier or different versions of Windows.

    It sounds like your suggestion is to uninstall 2019 and re-install it again. Am I correct? Has this option worked for other users who had the same issue?

  • Windows uninstall or change a program screen with Trados Studio 2019 SR2 selected and a dialog box asking to Uninstall or Repair the application.

    This is German Windows, but in the end of the day all versions work the same way.

    But when you run a installation over the existing one, the result should be the same.

    Or you could uninstall everything, run Freshstart https://appstore.sdl.com/language/app/sdl-freshstart/876/ and then install from scratch (as admin!). Before doing that, return Studio license.

    Please bear in mind, that your projects and files are not affected by any of these actions, as this are not stored along with the program. However, a good habit is to have all own files backed up BEFORE starting to do anything with the software.

    And it is really very hard to repair sbdies PC not having any access to it and having to rely on his/her information. Not only the different language of the OS is a problem here... Also the way we express our thoughts about OS and PC differs strongly.
