Crash in mid-update SR1 to SR2 SDL Trados Studio 2019

Hello All,

I updated SR1 to SR2, but in the mid of the update (I guess after uninstalling the SR1, but before installing SR2 completely), my computer got disconnected from power.

I  tried to reinstall SR1 (downloaded from SDL site, file: SDLTradosStudio2019_SR1_44109.exe), but at the end of installation, it threw an error:

Setup did not complete. The error is: Setup has detected a higher version of this product already installed. If you still wish to install this version, you must remove the other version first.

I believe this indicates that SR2 has already been installed. But I cannot find it anywhere.

What should I do?

Kind regards, Erich

  • Hi

Try a manual installation by installing the main components of Studio.  All the separate installers are available in the Modules folder:

    • SDL Trados Studio 2019 (or higher)C:ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\SDLTradosStudio2019\modules:
      • TradosCompatibility2.msi
      • WorldServerComponents.msi
      • TranslationStudio15.msi

Install these one at a time, I'd do TranslationStudio first, then TradosCompatibility, finally WorldserverComponents.  No particular reason, but people often ask!

If that doesn't help then I recommend you log a case.

For licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

    gateway.sdl.com/liveagentlicensing

    You have two options:

    1. Submit a case using a webform
    2. Use live chat to get a licence reset

You want to use the first option and make sure that you refer to this thread so the teams can see what you have tried already.

    Regards
