Activation failed, SDL Trados 2014 - error LicenseNumberAlreadyUsed -23

Hi there,

I'm trying to update to Trados 2019 and needed to deactivate and uninstall 2014 first.

I deactivated the 2014 license, but could not uninstall the suite of products.

I reinstalled 2014 again, but now cannot activate it with the license I have.
Error: LicenseNumberAlreadyUsed -23 > I don't have it activated on any other computer > screen of error message below
In my SDL Account, the license shows as "inactive"...

Error dialog box titled 'Fehler' with a red cross icon indicating 'Aktivierung fehlgeschlagen. Support-Referenz: LicenseNumberAlreadyUsed -23' with an 'OK' button.

I'm a bit lost. Is there anything I've been missing?

Thanks a lot.

  • Hi

You can request a license reset via live chat here:

    License reset

Click on the right-hand button 'Request License Reset' and fill out the little form that appears.

Someone will reply very quickly, usually immediately.

In the rare event that there is nobody available, the button will be greyed out with 'No Agents Are Available'. Then, click on the 'Submit Case' button and fill that form out, being sure to give your email address accurately so they can contact you. Remember to click 'Licensing' in the 'Case Type' dropdown. You should have your license problems resolved within 24h.

If they do allow you to reinstall your 2014 license, it might be wise to keep 2014 installed until you are used to Studio 2019. It is quite different (wonderfully so, in my opinion).

If you get someone on chat, they should be able to talk you through the installation process for 2019.

    All the best,

    Alison
