I cannot deactivate Studio 2017 (which was already deactivated in December 2019) and cannot activate Studio 2019 which was already activated in December 2019 but now does not open, although it appears "in use" under licensing. Any ideas would be welcome.

You upgraded from 2017 Freelance to 2019 Professional- which means you will no longer be able to use the 2017 version.
Your 2019 license is showing as active- so has somehow become corrupted and needs resetting-
Just use this link to request a license reset- https://gateway.sdl.com/liveagentlicensing
Providing your account details etc. License resets are normally done very quickly.

Message reciived that the Studio 2019 license was reset but it is still not possible to deactivate Studio 2017 and open and/or activate Studio 2019.
Following is the error in Studio 2017 (supposed to appear in English, but appears in Hebrew:
"Not possible to load file or "assemble" or one of its [word not understood] SimpleInjector.etc.... The "assembly" manifest setting that was located, does not match reference to PublicKeyToken etc..... Exception from HRESULT:0x80131040"
I tried via the bot but the only message received is"Sorry, can you please repeat that?"
Assistance urgently needed.

I think this error is normally due to an out of date Windows installation.
It is always a good idea to post the full error stack as this provides more information-
Please make sure Windows is on the latest version and all updates are installed.
If this still doesn't work- please log a free licensing and installation ticket-
https://gateway.sdl.com/liveagentlicensing (select Submit Case).
