SDL Trados Studio 2021 crashing

Since upgrading to SDL Trados Studio 2021 about two weeks ago (currently running 16.0.1.2917), the entire application has been crashing regularly (at least once a day) while working in the editor. There is no error message; the application window simply closes. I can then restart the app and continue working. Is this a known problem, and is there a fix? (I am running the app under Microsoft Windows 10 Home, version 10.0.19041 on an Intel Core i5-6600 CPU).

  • Several people have indicated that they removed old versions of the Studio software and cleaned up registry entries and that they have not experienced any crashing issues since. I have not taken any action whatsoever, and I am no longer experiencing the crashing problem either. I assume that the resolution to the problem was a result of the various updates (to both Studio and Windows) that have been installed since the initial Studio 2021 release.

  • ... and back to crashing we go (August 2021). Unable to keep the editor window open for any significant length of time. May have to resort to Wordfast as a workaround for current jobs due to deadline pressure.

  • This is strange. I can keep Studio with files opened in editor running even for several days, not just hours. And this on my desktop and laptop. So it cannot be Studio alone causing this  trouble.

If you have a PC which is older and just has been cleaned with a cleanup software, it will still be messy. From my knowledge there is no cleanup software which would restore a really clean PC. Mostly this kind of software even bloats tons of stuff there pretending to be useful. I have been using such software far away in the past, but have never seen a necessity to do so since Windows 7. However, my PCs are rarely older than 3–4 years, because I lease them instead of buying. And keep them all time clean, not installing possibly useful tools, which in fact are only used when installed and never called back to work again. The less software you install the better the PC works. And the tidier you keep your files the better. Studio hates chaos...
