Can we install SDL Trados Studio 2021 on Microsoft Windows Terminal server in multi-user mode.

I mean when let say 5-7 users connect to Terminal server (TS) by Remote Desktop connection and run your application on the TS and not on the local PCs.

  • Is it possible with general version of Studio or we will need special edition SDL Trados Studio
  • Can we install License Server Manager on the same server ( is it recommended or not)
  • What are hardware and software requirements for this kind solution: for example, SDL Studio is compatible with which version of Windows Terminal server 2019, 2016, 2012; how much memory (RAM) we need on the server for 1 user.

    Hello,

    You don't need a special installer. You can use the regular one in your SDL account.

    The LSM can be installed either on the same server or on a different one, there is no bad way to go here. Even if you have it on the same server as the client application it would still result in a working setup.

    You can install both Studio and the LSM on any Windows Server versions that are still supported by Microsoft so any of the ones you actually mentioned is fine. For the 2012 version you would need it upgraded to the R2 service pack.

    As for hardware recommendations you can use any recent Intel Xeon  multi-core technology processor and you would need at least 16 GBs of ram for this scenario.
