thanks for your reply, but I still have trados 2011, not the new one. 

I don't use it a lot, so I'd like to see if I can use it again on the new pc without buying the upgrade.

I found the solution myself, and write it here, maybe it can be useful to someone else who still has trados 2011.

I donwloaded the file vcredist_x86 directly from the Microsoft website (https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=26347), then ran it and continued with the trados installation. It worked!

I have the same problem (trying to move Trados 2011 to a new PC) and also downloaded the file from Microsoft and then ran it, but the Trados installer just stops every time when it cannot find this file on the SDL site. How did you solve this, i.e. how did you manage to continue with the Trados installation?

I had no problem with the installation, my PC found the file I had downloaded and continued with the installation. I don't know, maybe I've just been lucky. Sorry that I'm not able to help you, I don't know much about computers.

If the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable is installed on your computer you shouldn`t receive the same error message during installation. Can you please check in Control Panel to make sure it`s installed? Please attach a screenshot with the error message if the problem still persists.

From the screenshots I can see that you have Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable installed and the error message is saying that Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable needs to be installed. Please download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable and install it and then run the Studio installed.

Oh, I'm sorry I missed that. The setup installed OK after I installed the 2005 C++.

Hi Sorin, same problem. Trying to reinstall trados 2011 after a faulty SDD, replacement new SDD install. PC complete clean reinstall, Win 10 reinstall.

 Download of Trados Studio 2011 SP  &  Multiterm goes OK, both sitting in downloads and can open.

Followed the above  but still get an error.

"An error occurred while downloading a required file. You may retry downloading the file or cancel setup."

Not sure about the MS download. When I search for "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable" The MS download site presents 3 options, but only one (below) seems compatible with my processor. (Core i5).

MS Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x64)  version 8.0.61000.

I think I have the MS C++ 2005 element in place but still cant install trados. 

Sorry if I am missing something simple or doing something stupid...

Thoughts?
