do not know how to import the translation that I had completed on the trial version

Hello,

I changed from a free-trial version of STUDIO to a yearly subscription. I forgot to bring with me the project I had been doing on the free-trial version. However, I have the source file and the target file (about 70% of text translated) saved on my laptop. I have created a new project in the subscription version of TRADOS but do not know how to import the translation that I had completed on the trial version. Can you point me to a YouTube video or some other answer?

Thanks.

  • ok - so this would be the *.sdlproj:

Windows file explorer showing Trados Studio project files with file extensions visible. A red arrow points to a file named 'Amadeo EN ORIG (1).docx.sdlproj' indicating a possible mistake in the project folder.#

You are working with the file extensions hidden in windows and this makes it very difficult to identify the files other than relying on the icons.  So these for example:

Close-up of a Trados Studio project file icon with the name 'Amadeo EN ORIG (1).docx' indicating a duplicated project file.

    Amadeo EN ORIG (1).docx.sdlproj

Close-up of a Trados Studio project file icon with the name 'Amadeo EN ORIG (1).docx' without any visible errors or warnings.

    Amadeo EN ORIG (1).docx.sdlxliff

If you show the extensions it'll be obvious to you.

However!!!  You have clearly made a mistake here because the folder you are in looks like the source language folder en-US.  If you go up a level you'll find the *.sdlproj in there and that is the one you need.  It looks to me as though you opened the file again inside the source language folder and duplicated the project, hence the (1) at the end of the files.  I don't know where your translations actually are now as I don't know what you did first.  But I guess if you use the first thing I suggested and open the *.sdlproj then you'll find out as this one of them will probably be the translated project.
