DECTIVATION FAILED message. Impossible to deactivate on my desktop pc and I need it active on my desktop within this morning!

I urgently need to transfer my Trados 2017 license from my PC to my laptop now to be able to complete the urgent delivery of an important project.

I proceeded as usual online but received a "Deactivation failed" message. Tried again, but it was impossible to continue.

Then tried to deactivate offline. But when I tried to paste the "deactivation certificate" in Trados I have received the "Deactivation failed" message again. However, now my license is Deactivated on my PC. 

I then tried to activate the license on my PC with my activation code, but received the message "Activation failed. Please provide a quantity less or equal to your remaining quantity of zero" !!

I did not change anything in my Windows 10 PC system since last activation. Did not even install any new app.

Now it is almost 3 am Central European Time, and I need to go to sleep and to be sure that I can have my Trados license active on my desktop by tomorrow morning. I have been using and upgrading Trados licenses constantly since 2001 and I never had this before.

Please notice that if not fixed in time, this is going to create a case of significant financial damages.

  • Yes, I am having exactly the same problem this night once again! I am trying to deactivate since about 1 am, and I need to be sure it is deactivated before I go to sleep so that I can work on my Notebook tomorrow!! I have now left without any license available once again, like yesterday.

    This time I recorded the deactivation error messages: "Deactivation failed. Could not revoke this license - Error[202]: lock info is not matching.

    When I deactivate offline, it deactivates my Trados locally, but does not accept my deactivation certificate. The Error reads "X An error has occurred with your offline-deacivation. If you continue to have problems, please  Please log a support request." The underlined words are a link to this page.

    Now I have Trados deactivated on 2 machines, and no licenses available! If this is not solved and I am unable to access my license on my notebook tomorrow morning I am going to lose an important client.

    In order to fix this I have reset your license and now you have 2 activations available. Your license allows you to activate the license on 2 different computers at the same time so you don`t need to deactivate it every time from one computer to activate on the other one. 

    Before activating the license again please do the following:

    1. Close Studio.
    2. Go to : C:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5\Data
    3. Rename the file Studio.lic, e.g. to Studio_old.lic.
    4. Reactivate Studio.

    Note: If you can't find the path above open Windows File Explorer, click on View and check "Hidden Items" checkbox.
