Can't deactivate Studio 2017

I need to deactivate my Studio 2017 Freelance version so I can erase everything on my computer.

When I click on "Deactivate" a messages says: "Deactivation failed. Could not revoke this license. Revocation is either complete or revocation proof is already uploaded."

So I try offline activation but I get an error when copying the deactivation authorization to generate a certificate, message is:

Error Message: Failed to deactivate offline. The specified deactivation authorization may not be valid. Validate your deactivation authorization against the authorization in your SDL account.
So I sent an e-mail to sdl support describing the problem and I received a message (to which I can't reply) which says:

Please note that we no longer accept new support cases through email.

If you would like to raise a new support case please login to your RWS Account and then click on ‘Get Supportâ€Tm. You can then click on ‘Log a Caseâ€Tm to raise a new case with RWS Technical Support.

Kind regards,

So I went to my RWS account but there's no "Get Support" where I can click on and thus I can't "Log a Case" unless there's another way to log a case I am not aware of.

Why it's so hard to deactivate my product?

  • Hi Paul,

My problem was (is?) that I am going to trade-in my old laptop so I need to deactivate my versions of Studio 2017 and Trados 2007 (which I still use once in a while for special purposes) installed on the laptop so I can reinstall them on the new laptop. Support says thet have done it even though when I launch Sutido 2017 or Trados 2007 from the laptop they still appear fully functional. But I will go ahead tomorrow with trading my laptop - all its content will be erased - get my new laptop and try to reinstall Studio 2017 and Trados 2007. Only then I will know if support helped me as they claim. Will let you know.
