There is gateway article that has some of our FAQ: 

• I'm upgrading from a previous version of SDL Trados to SDL Trados Studio 2015 / 2017 / 2019 / 2021, will I still keep my previous Studio license?
  Once you complete the upgrade process, your original license will be automatically removed from the SDL Account (if not in use) or will be marked as inactive (if license is in use) and replaced with a SDL Trados Studio 2015 license.
  NOTE: If the license is marked as inactive, the license will be removed from the SDL Account once it is deactivated.
  
  

When you install Studio 2021 you get 30 days as a trial. 
You could leave your license management till after the 30 days so you can assess how 2021 works for you.

Thank you for your kind reply. However, I have already used up the trial period for a course on Studio 2021 I attended before purchasing the license.

What if I complete the migration, then for some reason Trados is not working on Mac, would you know if I can activate the old license back?

I would be grateful for any suggestions!

With Trados 2021, you get access to Trados Live Essential for a year. Trados Studio 2021, or more relevantly "SDL Trados Live" supports project creation and translation in a browser. This means you can create projects and translate them on probably any computer that supports an internet browser... which of course includes a MAC.  However, this is not the same as running Trados Studio 2021 the desktop tool as this definitely requires you to run windows.
