Activating new license on new computer, keeping old license on old computer?

Hi everyone,

I would really welcome advice on my current situation: I´ve got Studio 2015 installed on an old laptop and have since bought the 2021 upgrade. I want to install the upgrade on a new computer, a Mac with a virtual Windows machine, but I wouldn´t deactivate the old 2015 license until I am really sure that Trados 2021 works in the virtual Win machine (which is not Parallels or VMWare).

My question is: can I download and activate Trados Studio 2021 on my new computer, saving and copying all the TMs from the old one, AND keep the old 2015 license until the old laptop expires?

    There is gateway article that has some of our FAQ: 

    • I'm upgrading from a previous version of SDL Trados to SDL Trados Studio 2015 / 2017 / 2019 / 2021, will I still keep my previous Studio license?
      Once you complete the upgrade process, your original license will be automatically removed from the SDL Account (if not in use) or will be marked as inactive (if license is in use) and replaced with a SDL Trados Studio 2015 license.
      NOTE: If the license is marked as inactive, the license will be removed from the SDL Account once it is deactivated.

    When you install Studio 2021 you get 30 days as a trial. 
    You could leave your license management till after the 30 days so you can assess how 2021 works for you.
