When you processed the upgrade to Studio 2019, you've traded up the license for Trados Studio 2017 Freelance Plus with the one for Trados Studio 2019 Freelance Plus, therefore,  you don't have the 2017 license any longer (so there's nothing to deactivate over there). If you only used 1 activation for Trados Studio 2019 Freelance Plus, then you have a spare one you can use. Feel free to use it on the notebook, as you can download Trados Studio 2019 from your SDL account, install it, and use the activation key for this version to activate it on your device.

Hello Adrian,

Many thanks for your reply! Would it be best to deinstall the 2017 version, before I upgrade my notebook (more main storage, more hard disk, Windows 10 instead of Windows 7) and then, when I get the notebook back, install Studio 2019 and use my additional activation code?
And if yes, will I have to remove anything from the registry or will an ordinary deinstallation be sufficient?

Hello Kristin,

We normally encourage users to have both versions installed on the same device, as Studio 2017 can be used on the same device with Studio 2019 (if you have this version installed and activated). In this case, Studio 2017 will work in the first 30 days in trial mode, then it will detect the license for Studio 2019 and will continue to work. 

However, this is your call, and if you wish to simply not use Studio 2017 anymore (because you feel it will take too much of your resources), you can go ahead and only use Studio 2019.

You don't have to remove anything from your registry when uninstalling Studio 2017.
