This is what I have for step 1.  The file names are not exactly the same as those in your list and one seems to be missing.  Do you have a link for where I can download it?  For step 2, I don't have a 'Modules' folder....

I downloaded them to the Dependencies folder and tried again.  No good.  No change at all.

That said, the link you gave me wasn't for the missing file name in my folder.  I think it's something to do with Java?

I've figured it out.  In fact I had to go to the dependencies folder and run each file individually.

AAHhhh!!!! This is driving me crazy!!!  So now I've managed to download Trados, but I can't activate it.  The error message is below.

It may be worth you trying the Studio 2021 trial and see if that installs for you.  I don't think it's appropriate for the support team to spend time attempting to make a version of the software as old as 2014 work on a brand new operating system that was only launched a few weeks ago.  Trados Studio 2014 was taken out of support many years ago.

If you want to keep working with really old software it makes a lot of sense NOT to upgrade your operating system.

Yes, I'm aware it was taken out of support many years ago.  As to the reasoning behind that type of SDL strategy, well that's a whole other question...  So thank you, but no I won't be uggrading to 2021.  You have just made my decision regarding switching to a competitor very easy , so thank you!

It's probably not what you think, and I suspect most software providers will have a similar strategy.  We cannot practically support our software on seven different major versions of the software.  Microsoft, which provides the operating software we run on has been through XP, W7, W8 W10 and now W11 in all of this time.  We rely on the technologies in these window releases to be able to run our software.  So we support the last two major versions but no further back.  That would be the strategy.

Having a support & maintenance contract can help a lot as this spreads the costs to something reasonable and you always get the latest versions included as well as support from the technical teams when needed.  But I do appreciate not everyone works as a professional translator and sees their CAT software as an essential part of their business and being able to work.
