Detecting language please wait for.......
I have an issue with the language pair installation with Trados 2021. German is set up by default as the target language and I can't add or delete any language.
All languages are greyed out.
And I can't deactivate the licence to reinstall the program.
You are right. I removed it and replaced with a new one, and it is allright. Thank you.
I still have the problem with the deactivation process which fails any time. Here is a sceenshot of the answer:
And what kind of file are you trying to translate?
Fabienne Malfait-Duvillier
Can you share a screenshot of what you're looking at please?
In fact this has happened after I opened the English-German exemple provided at the installation of the Trados 2021 version.
Here is a screenshot of the language pair choice screen:
It's a plain bilingual EN-FR Word file. Nothing to do with German.
You cannot modify the project this way. But this is not something general, only applies to this particular project. You ar not limited in any way to chose languages as you wish when creating a new project (opening a file for translation).
It seems you opened a single file for translation with the language choice EN-DE. You cannot change this in a project, which was created that way. Remove that very project from the project list in your Studio. Go to the folder, where your source file is stored and remove the *.sdlproj file from there. Then open the file again, but chose the proper language pair.
Fabienne Malfait-Duvillier It's better to separate your questions as things can get missed when added into one thread. The languages part seems to be sorted as it as just related to you creating the project with the wrong languages in the first place and it's too late to change the languages after that. On the licensing issues we will be pleased to help you with this problem so have logged a support case on your behalf. You will be contacted at the email address used for this Community. Support Case Id : 00654068 .
Issue was solved by explaining to the customer Deactivating the License is not needed to be able to Uninstall Studio and re-install it.Also if the you want to change the 5 languages that you can use in Studio please check this article: https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000004391

I hope you don't mind me adding (for future readers of this post) that the need to change the 5 languages is only applicable up to Studio 2019. In Studio 2021 the number of languages isn't limited, even in the Freelance version.
All the best,
Ali
