I was trying to activate Trados Studio 2021 using Alternative activation options > Use a License Server > input the License server name, then click "Activate". But the error message "An error occurred while requesting a license. Click Retry and try again" pops up.

I got similar message, but it is when I tried to Deactivate. I am running Trados Studio 2022 SR1 - 17.1.8.17828.
I suspect that some files were deleted in Clean files process of my Dell SupportAssist app, or similar process of Microsoft PC Manager app.

Also, is there anyway to prevent this issue from happening in the future? I understand that there is a limited use of the Reset License option in a 12-month period.

The only way is to deactivate and reactivate the license on the other PC from Studio > Help > Product Activation, then the date will change for that activation and you will know which one to reset.
Renaming the Studio.lic file and reactivation the license should fix it and the deactivation should work afterwards. You can reset the license 3 times in a 12-month period, if you exceed 3 reset then we can log a case for you to have your license reset from our end.

Hello, has there been any concrete feedback to Sara Qin's initial issue? I am suddenly receiving the same message. We are using 2021 with license server, everything working fine for years and then suddenly last week all users fail to get license from server with the message stated above. My message does not state a specific error code like the other instances below. The server is responding successfully to pings of IP and domain name. Thanks for any additional input.

Hi Sorin, Thanks for the response. But how can I find information on the exact user installation if the software automatically quits when the license lookup fails? When I click the help button from the license activation window, it provides only very general information. I believe it is 2021 SR2. I have requested information internally about the license manager.
