Error message: Operation not allowed: cat-tool use

I keep getting this error message on every project I test it out on. I have tried different languages and different projects.

I am using Trados Studio 2022 SR1.

Does anyone know why this happens?

  • Hello,

The error message you're encountering might be due to a licensing issue. Trados Studio Freelance edition allows you to work with up to three languages at a time. If you're trying to work with more than three languages, you might encounter this error.

Here's how you can resolve this issue:

    Step 1: Open Trados Studio.

Step 2: Go to the "Project Settings" or "Options" menu.

Step 3: Look for the "Language Pairs" section.

Step 4: Ensure that you have only three languages selected. If more than three languages are selected, deselect the extra ones.

Step 5: Save the changes and try creating a new project again.

If you're still encountering the error after following these steps, it might be a good idea to check if your software is up to date. You can do this by going to the "Help" menu in Trados Studio and selecting "Check for Updates".

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
