Passolo 2018 on Windows 11 Home 64-bit - Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable package missing, but the link referred to is broken/invalid.

I installed Passolo 2018 Translator Edition, but when I tried to launch it, it threw an error at me. Apparently problematic components are:

1. Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0 Extended (weell… this is a PARTIAL error, as it DOES display a green check mark next to it and the download link is GRAY, but then it says: "SDL Passolo needs extended version of Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0 (Client Profile is not sufficient)" So… the program needs higher privileges or what?)

2. Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package - this component is apparently completly ABSENT from my machine. (Here, the download link is active/blue. But when I try to click it, it says "this page does not exist" (?) Also I did some research and apparently C++ 2010 is not compatible with Windows 11 anyway??? Of course correct me if I am wrong… but: wouldn’ t a newer (newest?) edition of that redistributable also do the trick? And if not: where do I get the 2010 C++ Redistributable? Not on the Microsoft page, it seems!

If i doubled the topic, I am sorry.

P.S. I do also have Passolo 2022 installed, but the workflow I need to follow is: work on some .tbulic18 packages in English —> translate them to Polish —> sent Polish .tbulic18 packages BACK. I CANNOT change the file format! Which is what would happen if I processed those packages through Passolo 2022, right? I would end up with .tbulic22 or whatever. (Assuming such "cross-breeding" would work at all…) So… Passolo 2018 is the program I need, correct? Slight smile

  • Actually, while I am at it, I have another question! (For which I should probably create a separate thread/discussion on the forum… but then again, the two questions are related to each other, so perhaps THIS is the right place to ask!

Alright, introduction over, now for the question!

Once I have all missing components installed and manage to get Passolo 2018 up and running, I need to also activate it, right? I read somewhere on the forum that it is possible to do so using the Passolo 2022 license (?) (Let me remind you: I have BOTH installed) Except the result will be (apparently):

Passolo 2018 will be fully functional.

But Passolo 2022 in that setup will serve barely as a "license donor" and not work itself (I guess I interpreted that correctly…?)

Which is NOT what I want! I want them both to be fully up and running, parallel to one another! (I may need either of them in the future, who knows… so I’d better prepare Slight smile Also isn’t there a saying about two things being better than one? More versatility, am I right?)

The question is: how do I achieve THAT?

    Best regards
