Thanks Sorin. I have already tried what was suggested in the link you kindly sent me but it does not work for some reason. I am not sure if it has something to do with the fact that it is an older version (2017).

If the ID is not generated try the following steps: 

In Windows search bar type "Device Manager" and open it and then go to: Network Adapters - Action - Add Legacy Hardware - Install the hardware that I manually select from a list - Network adapters - Choose a network adapter (Microsoft > Microsoft KM -Test).

Then try again offline activation.
