Norton blocks update installation AGAIN

Since my post was rejected by Paul* very impolitely, I post this again. Norton rejects the recent Trados Freelance 22 update with HIGH RISK.

Apparently, RWS is unable and unwilling to remedy this.

Very disappointing!

When is RWS Trados going to do something about this?

Norton, Avast and AVG (all part of the same Parent Company) seem to be reporting this, and they are all reporting a false positive.  You mention they report this:

    Very few
Very few in the Norton Community have used this file.

That is also a problem because IDP.Generic warnings are notorious for producing false positives, particularly with Avast, AVG (which share similar engines) and occasionally Norton.  Legitimate software, especially less widely used professional tools like Trados Studio (100k+ users is small in the overall scheme of things), may not be immediately recognized or whitelisted by some antivirus programs.

When is RWS Trados going to do something about this?

This is not an RWS specific problem... see this report on the installer (as I have already advised):

    https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/6957c412c18ea8ccf32655e4ecf6e5c75dbcab88fdcf992c3df1e94c7d73b78c

From the thousands of downloads and installs we already see I only find three reports in this community, so it makes sense to think rationally about this and focus on making sure that the installer you are working with is not going to be a problem for you.  I'm sure that in a while the warning will disappear once Gen Digital (who own these three companies) update their heuristics to prevent this IDP.Generic ("Generic" indicates a broad, non-specific detection) warning.

In the meantime, if we can do anything to encourage these three to properly whitelist this installer then we will do.  We have already loaded the installer to the Avast website to speed this up, and the message was "Files uploaded through this app are valid for all Gen family of consumer brands that include Avast, AVG and Norton".  We tried the Norton website as well since you seem to think I am not addressing your concern, but that keeps crashing.

So all we can do now is wait and see.  The important thing is that you can check the integrity of the installer you use and satisfy yourself it's not malicious:
