Please help with reinstallation of Trados Studio

I need help for a reinstallation of SDL Trados Studio on my computer. I can’t open Studio using my license information. I can only access the trial version. I need an activation code to access. Please help me regain access to my license.

  • At step 3 from the article I sent. If Studio closes before getting there and you have Windows 11 you need to follow the steps I sent earlier.

As for the site try oos.sdl.com , without www.

    Thank you,

  • Sorry for the multiple messages. I am very lost. I don't know where and how to find the Installation ID. Did you mean in your answer that I have to look for the Installation ID in Windows? It yes, I cannot follow the instructions you provided. I cannot find the first step "Network Adapters". If you could show me visually, it would help. Also my Windows is in French, so please provide the instruction in French as possible.

  • Hello, I was able to find the Installation ID as well as the Activation code and the Activation certificate. So I have all the information. When I log in Studio I am led to the "Activation en ligne" page. I am asked to enter the Activation code and then I get a message saying the the Activation has failed : "Impossible to connect to the activation server. Check the activation server in the supplier's parameters. The distant server has returned an error (403) Not allowed.

    Please advise.

  • Hi Louise,

Your license appears in use - that's why probably you cannot activate the license.

Did you do a License Reset before trying to Activate it? When you need to install Trados on a different computer, if possible (meaning the old computer did not crush or died), you need to deactivate it first on the previous computer.

If you did not Reset the license before, please do that - in your RWS account - under Licenses - you have the Reset button next to the license code. Since you have a Freelance Plus license, you can activate it on two computers and currently both activations are In Use. So you need to reset at least one of them so you can activate Trados on the new computer.

Here is also a link with the steps and a video on how to reset the license:

    All the best,
