Deactivation of Trados 2022 Freelance Plus

I upgraded from 2022 Freelance plus to same 2024. On my pc I have an activated 2024 and an installed 2022 deactivated.

On a laptop, I have an apparently activated 2022 which I want to deactivate in order to activate the 2022 on the pc.

   1. On the laptop 2022, there is no Activation button nor an About button. How can I deactivate it?

   2. In my account, there is no trace of this 2022. Only the 2024.

Any suggestion would be helpful. I was even thinking of going through an Uninstall of the laptop 2022 using a third party utility.

  • Hi,

With Plus you have 2 activations at the same time on 2 different PC's.

When you install a newer version of SDL/Trados, the previous version is not automatically uninstalled. This allows both versions to coexist in separate directories, ensuring that they do not overwrite each other.

Ugrading to 2024 can deactivate your 2022 version.
Trados Studio 2024 requires a new license, which means your 2022 license may no longer be valid unless you possess a multi-version or subscription license.

Before installing Trados Studio 2024, you need to deactivate 2022 license (from Help > Product Activation

  • Hello

I have been following your hard exchange with  step by step and I feel a bit confused too!

Before installing Trados Studio 2024, you need to deactivate 2022 license

Is that something new witrh SDL Trados 2024? As far as I am concerned, I do not remember ever deactivating a Trados 20(n) license before downloading, installing and activating a Trados 20(n+1) and currently I have both Trados 2021 and Trados 2022 displayed on  my desktop screen (along with the related MultiTerm) and both ready to be used according to my needs. So please enlighten me.

    Best regards.

    Gérard
