Not able to desactivate Studio 2017 licence


I have tried to desactivate the licence because I have a new computer but neither online nor offline worked. This seems to be the only way to get support. Thank you in advance for your help.
If needed I have both deactivation codes available.

  • Hello, I am having the same problem. New computer, cannot deactivate Studio 2017 from old computer to reinstall on new.

    I successfully reset the license from my RWS account: I logged into my RWS account, went on the Licenses tab and clicked on Reset license button. Then I tried the Deactivate button on my old computer. I got the following error message: Deactivation failed. Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel. So I tried to deactivate offline, and I got a different error message: Failed to deactivate offlline. The specified deactivation autorization may not be valid. Validate your deactivation authorization against the authorization in your SDL Account.

    I have no idea where to go from here, I troubleshooted both error message but did not find a solution. Can you help?

  • Hi Lise, 

    When you reset a license there's no need to deactivate it anymore, the reset basically returns the license to its Available state.

    After one resets a license and the 30 minutes that the system advises to wait pass, you can activate it again. If it's an older license like 2017 the offline activation works better.

    So, at this point, if the reset was successful, you need to activate the license now, preferably using the offline activation.
